What we store today
- Without an account, your practice history and skill profile stay in your browser and Verbalyn doesn't save your messages.
- If you sign in, we save your practice turns (in the language you wrote them), corrections and skill observations to your account in the EU (Ireland), so you can continue on any device. Only you can see them.
- Shadow Review texts are cleaned of emails, phone numbers, bank and card numbers and links, analysed for that one request, and not saved.
- Each message goes through our AI gateway to a model provider to produce a reply and corrections. The gateway keeps usage records such as time and cost.
- Voice practice is optional and stays off until you allow it. Each clip is sent once to our AI gateway to be turned into text, you see the text before anything is sent, and the recording is not stored. Storing recordings would be a separate choice, off by default, kept for at most 90 days, and never by default for learners under 18.
How AI is used
- Your conversation partner is an AI and is always labelled as one.
- Model requests go through one controlled gateway with spending limits. When that limit is reached, you continue in guided practice instead of seeing an error.
- AI feedback is formative. Any future verified milestone will be reviewed by an independent assessor, and an AI never makes that decision alone.
- Accent is never treated as an error, and we don't infer emotions or identity from your voice.
Your rights
- Export: use “Export” in the practice room to download everything stored about you.
- Delete: use “Delete” in the practice room. Signed in, this deletes your account and saved data.
- Dispute a correction: if a correction looks wrong, report it and a person will review it.
Emails we send
Today we only send emails you ask for: sign-in and confirmation links. We don't send newsletters or marketing. If we add them, they will be opt-in and every message will have a one-click unsubscribe link. To stop all emails, delete your account from the practice room or write to support@verbalyn.com.
Report a problem
Email support@verbalyn.com with what happened and, if you can, the time of the session. Please don't include passwords or ID numbers.
